The UK government is reportedly no longer sharing intelligence with the US following strikes on alleged drug trafficking vessels in the Caribbean.
The reported decision was a major break for the UK which has readily supplied intelligence with its ally in Washington DC for decades. It is alleged the move was made after mounting concern over the legality of lethal US strikes off the coast in Latin America.
The UK, which still controls numerous islands in the Caribbean, had assisted the US Coast Guard to track down drug smugglers hoping to get their product into North America. Previously, any suspicious vessels would be boarded, suspected drugs would be seized and the crew would be detained.
