Donald Trump hails 'dream team' of JD Vance and Marco Rubio but refuses to endorse direct successor

Donald Trump has described JD Vance and Marco Rubio as a "dream team" for the White House, but refused to endorse a direct successor.

The comments come as the US President invited guests at a White House Rose Garden dinner to clap for either man in an ad hoc popularity contest.

President Trump said there were “a lot of beauties out there, JD".

He added: "I envy you and other people, I don’t know. Who is it going to be? Is it going to be JD? Is it going to be somebody else? I don’t know."
