NYC Mayor Eric Adams to meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago resort on Friday

Embattled Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams will meet with President-elect Donald Trump on Friday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, the mayor's spokesman confirmed Thursday.

Adams has previously expressed interest in meeting with Trump and his administration to get federal assistance with a surge of illegal immigrants that have flooded the city during the Biden administration. He previously met with Trump's incoming border czar Tom Homan to discuss the migrant crisis, and met with another Trump ally on Tuesday, according to Politico.

Fabian Levy, the mayor's spokesman, said Adams believes that meeting with Trump will be the best way to help the city.

“Mayor Adams has made quite clear his willingness to work with President-elect Trump and his incoming administration on behalf of New Yorkers — and that partnership with the federal government is critical to New York City’s success," Levy told the outlet. “The mayor looks forward to having a productive conversation with the incoming president on how we can move our city and country forward."
