Trump announces U.S. will leave Paris Climate Accord for second time

President Trump announced Monday that he would be pulling the United States from the Paris Climate Accord shortly after being sworn into office.

“President Trump will withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord,” said a White House email laying out his first priorities.

The withdrawal is listed under his “make America affordable and energy dominant again” agenda.

Mr. Trump made a similar announcement in 2017, pulling the U.S. from the agreement that former President Barack Obama signed in 2015. The climate accord is an international treaty that is aimed at combating climate change. Nearly 200 parties have signed the agreement.
